Canadian Experience Class
Quick Facts on CEC

The program’s eligibility factors
The program’s eligibility factors include language proficiency, level of education, and age among others. The applicant would also need to prove that they have obtained full time skilled work experience for one (1) full year within the last three (3) years. The equivalent periods for part time experience would also be considered.

Applying to the School
In obtaining full time work experience, the CEC becomes the most viable option for permanent residency.

Applying for the Study Permit
The CEC can still be available after graduating from full time if the applicant is able to obtain and be eligible for a work permit, thus allowing for the completion of the one (1) year full time work experience post study.
FSWP
The Federal Skilled Worker Program
Also part of the Express Entry programme of Canadian immigration is what is known as the Foreign Skilled Worker programme. This is a more liberal system compared to the more rigorous CEC requirements. If the applicant has overseas skilled work experience, then they can qualify under the FSWP.
The system uses a points system with the Comprehensive Ranking System in order to create a score and rank a candidate’s qualifications. This merit based system determines who amongst the applicants have the most competitive profiles to allow them to apply for Permanent Residency. Thus, on top of the knowledge and skills obtained while in Canada, previous skills and knowledge from the home country is given weight in the FSWP. There must be proof of work experience in order to qualify for the FSWP.
PNP
The Provincial Nominee Program
Some provinces and territories of Canada have their own skilled immigration programs. Known as PNPs, these programs enable individuals with specific skill sets to become permanent residents in a specific territory or province through an application direct to the Province/Territory.
Preference is provided for applicants who have a connection with a specific province or territory and with a completed study degree with valuable work experience. The requirements for PNP applications depend on the needs of the province/territory.
